Philip Mitchell Returns to GPS as Director of Recruiting and International Projects
Waltham, March 7th 2013; Based in Belfast, Mitchell will lead all recruitment efforts for GPS moving forward.
Former MPS Premier Director Philip Mitchell will return to Global Premier Soccer, taking up the role of Director of Recruiting and International Projects.
Phil, who previously spent 2 years as Premier Team Director in Massachusetts, is now based in the Ireland and will be overseeing the recruitment of new coaches coming from the UK and Ireland. Having previously made the move from Northern Ireland to the US, Phil knows the qualities and characteristics required of a GPS coach.
‘We are privileged to have Philip Mitchell working with the club again,’ said GPS General Manager Joe Bradley. ‘Phil’s previous experience, combined with his soccer and business acumen, which is second to none, will provide GPS with the leadership necessary to continue to acquire high quality staff.’
“Naturally, this is an exciting position, in that it allows me to continue my special relationship with Global Premier Soccer,’ explained Phil. ‘The role goes beyond the obvious of recruiting new talent. It is a bridge to make sure that those who are selected have a clear understanding of expectations and clean clear lines of communication with senior staff at HQ.’
Having been involved in soccer as a player, coach and director for 15 years, and as a Sports Marketing and Sales Manager, Phil is determined to find the best coaches who believe in the GPS philosophy.’ Phil continued, ‘I have a wide platform of contacts that will complement the existing recruiting channels and I am confident I will unearth new talent who will impact the player development programs at GPS.’
Previously, Mitchell worked for Umbro as Sales Executive for Northern Ireland and Scotland. During his 15 years with Umbro, Mitchell worked with high profile clubs including Rangers, Hearts and Linfield.
